Thomas J. Vanderloop (TJ or Tom) is an author, consultant, instructor, mechanical designer, and certified manufacturing engineer & technologist (CMfgE & CMfgT).  Tom specializes in geometric tolerancing, manufacturing processes, technical writing, tool design, CAD/CAM print reading for manufacturing, & CAD print reading for welding technology.  He is also an author to a number of technical publications including Blueprint Reading for the Machine Trades a copyright-1983 textbook done for the Reston Publishing Division of Prentice-Hall,  Inc.  He was awarded the "Wisconsin Vocational Teacher of the Year for Professional Excellence" in 1996, and the "SME - Award of Merit" by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers for leadership and services to both Chapter #335, & the Region 9 SME-Executive Board as their Chairman in 1995.  In 1988 he was honored with the "SME Edward S. Roth, Geometric Tolerancing Grant for Curriculum Development." He established an "SME - Jansen, Roth, Vanderloop Scholarship" for SME student leadership in manufacturing studies at Chippewa Valley Technical College, Eau Claire, WI.

Thomas J. Vanderloop earned much of his academic education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie, WI, completing  two - Bachelor of Science Degrees, a Master of Science Degree - (MS), and the Education Specialist - (EdS) Graduate Degree.  He taught 4 years as an Assistant Professor at UW-Stout, and 29 years at the Chippewa Valley Technical College.  Tom also holds an Associate Degree in Mechanical Design Technology from Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI.  Thomas Vanderloop  completed his Advanced Technical Certificate in Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) while working at the Chippewa Valley Technical College.  Thomas J. Vanderloop is a Certified Contracting  Trainer with Hutchinson Technology, Inc., in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, and Print Reading.

 

Mr. Vanderloop is experienced as a design engineer, a production-shop worker, and has done international consulting  through ARAMCO, the Arabian American Oil Company, of Houston, Texas & Saudi Arabia. He has done consulting work and teaching with many domestic manufacturing clients in America over the past 30 years.  Vanderloop has many former technical college & university students that now manage their own modern CAD/CAM operations and domestic business ventures as "world-class"  entrepreneurs.
